From that interview it seems this piece was likely made sometime 1931-1937.
Probably considered Duncan Phyle style.
Appears mahogany to me but much Kemp during this period was Tupelo gum or sweet gum.
Needs some work, wood is in good condition but need refinishing.
Biggest issue is that it is missing one of its four legs. Still stands but not really going to support very good as is - I would move the legs around so that the remaining 3 support it better.
A little TLC and this would made a fine antique piece!
